QUESTIONS

HelpLayer vs Notion: questions

Can I use Notion as a help center?

Yes, for simple docs: publish pages with Notion Sites, on your own domain on a paid plan. Visitors can read and search, but they can't ask AI, and there's no in-app widget or article feedback. HelpLayer is built for that.

What does each cost?

Notion Plus is $10 per member a month billed yearly, plus $8 a month for a custom domain: $38 for 3 editors, with no AI answers for visitors. HelpLayer Pro is $29 a month for 3 team members, with AI answers and a custom domain.

How does HelpLayer keep articles up to date?

You connect an article to its sources: a GitHub repository or a web page, like your pricing page or changelog. When they change, HelpLayer works out which articles the change touches, writes the update to the text and the video, and waits for your approval.
