Choose what Ricordo sends online
Turn Ricordo's internet extras on or off: Apple Maps names, photos in iCloud, place stories, weather and Look Around.
Ricordo works fully without the internet. The extras in Internet extras add a little more, and each one says exactly what it sends and to whom. None of them ever sends your photos, faces or the names of people.
Turn an extra on or off
On the Atlas, tap the gear to open Settings.
Under Internet, tap Internet extras.
Turn each extra on or off.
What each extra does
Place names from Apple Maps (on unless you turn it off): adds landmarks and local names to your places. Sends the middle of each place, rounded to about 1 km, to Apple Maps, once per place.
Photos stored in iCloud: also reads photos that are only in iCloud, so scenes, people, search, boarding passes and Clean up cover your whole library. They come from your own iCloud; nothing goes to Ricordo or anyone else.
Place stories: a short introduction from Wikipedia on each country and city you've been to. Sends only the place's name, once per place.
Weather on trip days: the weather on each day of your trips, from Apple Weather's records (since August 2021). Sends the dates of trip days and a rough location, about 10 km.
Look Around: street-level views of your places from Apple Maps, where Apple has them. Sends the place's location to Apple Maps.
Tip: With Photos stored in iCloud on, photos download over Wi-Fi only. Turn on Also on mobile data to use mobile data too.
To clear what's been downloaded, tap Remove downloaded stories and weather.
If turning on Place stories or Weather on trip days opens Ricordo Plus, those two extras are part of Plus.
