How Metwith reads your cards
Understand how a card's photo becomes a name, a company and numbers, all on your iPhone.
Metwith reads each card on your iPhone. The photo isn't sent anywhere, and reading works without a connection.
The text. Apple's text recognition, built into iOS, finds the words and numbers on the card. Metwith turns the card upright first, however you held your iPhone.
The fields. Metwith's own rules decide which line is the name, the job title and the company, and sort out mobile, work and fax numbers, emails, websites, addresses and VAT numbers. They know titles such as Dott., Dr. and Arch., PEC addresses, and phone labels in several languages.
Apple Intelligence. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence turned on, Apple's on-device model reads the card a second time, for the name, job title, company and addresses the rules weren't sure of. It only uses words printed on the card, and it runs on your iPhone too.
A field Metwith isn't sure of is marked Check, so you can look at it before you save.
Tip: No Apple Intelligence on your iPhone? Cards are still read by the text recognition and the rules, in the same way.
